i feel the bass drum, more and more: it's time for this
"Tom," I asked, looking up from my English homework. "Why does this word have to start with a capital letter in the middle of a sentence?" and pointed to the word. "Because it's a noun," Tom answered after looking over. "What's a noun?" He stopped writing for a moment and looked up to the sky, his usual thinking stance. "A noun is..." he started slowly. His furrowed brows did nothing more than to show that he was trying his best to explain in a way that I could understand. "... a group of special words. It has to be capitalised because it's special, and so people can see that it's special." With that, he smiled, proud that he was able to enlighten me. "That's why the word has to start with a capital letter." Nodding, I pondered on his explanation for a while. It did make sense... "Our names start with a capital letter too... Does that make us special?" I asked slowly. I watched a grin unfurl on Tom's face slowly as he faced me. "You're right," he started, a bubble of laughter starting to surface. "We're special!" we exclaimed, feeling my twin's infectious laughter hit me and soon we fell into fits of laughter. |
